Lenny Kravitz IS the shiznit!

BTW, is this personal one-hit wonders or are we going by charts and sales and sheet?
Deviouz, we have had some discussion about this in earlier pages of the thread. We've all come to the conclusion that to define an artist as a true ONE-HIT wonder is just too much. Because some artists do have multiple songs that did ok, but we only remember them for the one song. And also artists that are one-hit wonders here in the states often have huge careers elsewhere, and that would entail charts and sales too. So we're not really being strict on this at all.

The title of this thread really should be 'One hit wonders, but two hit wonders are ok, you know what if the song is what you remember that artist by then post that too because some of these are UK super stars, and others have multiple tracks that did well on the charts but post those too.' Lengthy aint it?

Two hit wonders are ok, UK super groups are ok, if they had 3 singles that broke the top 40 but only one went really high that's ok.

We have not been going by charts or sales in any way.

Good question though!

Apart from being a one hit wonder it also happens to be one of my favourite tracks of all time and has been for 30 years!

Kinda strange to hang onto a song that you first heard at aged 9 but it still makes me love music.

Didn't he have a song called Baby It Ain't Over or something? It's probably someone else, but now that I'm thinking of it it's stuck in my head. But those two songs are great!

& Ghostbusters is good too, haha. I have neighbors who hook up big speakers outside and blast that and Thriller every Halloween. So when I hear it I always think of that, lol.

I found a link. Very haunting song! It sounds much more contemporary. 30 years old huh?

The Passions - I'm in love with a German film star. TOTP - YouTube

True, he had a hit when he was with Sweeny Todd with the great and sleazy "Roxy Roller" (You know the one used in the Runaways flick!), but solo-wise, this was his claim to fame. Decided to go for a performance clip for that serious Retro style.

(PS: He co-wrote "The Warrior" performed by Scandal)

Led by Ex-Mickey Mouse Club member Dick Dodd and produced, and on this song written, by The Four Preps' Ed Cobb (Cobb was the one who wrote Tainted Love, by the way!). This was their only US Top 40 from what I remember, but it's a great one!

They strangled and brutalized the song so much that this version lives in a world of it's own. That's a good thing, by the way.

Also featured in the movie Troll!

Kick ass and heavy for 1966, great for eternity!

Sean Bonniwell RIP.

Keith Olsen turned into a huge hit-making Producer with a roll call including Grateful Dead, Rick Springfield, Pat Bennitar, and Fleetwood Mac!

Hey guys this thread has been up only three days and gotten a lot of replies and views.
So I have an idea and you can tell me if its a good one or not...

I want to make another thread called : Let's play a game: One hit wonder or NOT?

And in the thread the challenge is to put up one video that you think is a one-hit wonder. The next poster can agree with or present facts about other songs that artist that has had that makes them a two-hit wonder. Also the poster is allowed to post evidence that the artist had a bigger career in other countries. Then that poster will put a link to their choice. So you review one and you post one to keep it going and interactive.

Example: If I said Smashmouth was a one hit wonder with 'All Star'. I would put a link to the video as such....

Smash Mouth - All Star - YouTube

then the next poster would say no man, they had more hits such as....walking on the sun, I'm a believer, then the morning comes, etc etc...and post links to those...then that poster would put their own candidate for one hit wonder at the end....and the next person would evaluate their choice and so forth and so on.

I think it would make it more interactive. I know I've enjoyed this thread the most when someone has said well don't you remember this song? Or no that group had hits in the UK too. I have enjoyed learning about the artists and re-remembering old favorites.

What do you guys think? Would it be a spam or duplicate thread? Because that is not my intent, and if I had known this thread would go this way I would have started THIS thread with that format. I just didn't know this great participation and wealth of knowledge would pour out in such a way. And I didn't know my own knowledge of one-hit wonders would be so limited. It seems every post I make someone is able to say, hey man they did this song too, and in the UK they did this song, and then that band member went to this group and had another hit.

I think all of that would work better in an interactive review/respond/and post as you go kind of format.

What do you guys think?

I went ahead and started the new thread. I'll see if both of these threads survive. If not, its cool. I've had a blast already. Shared and regained so many good memories. Thanks guys!!!

My next one-hit wonder choice...

Ray Parker Jr. - GHOSTBUSTERS

Great selections guys!

I enjoyed "The Sign" also.

Ace of Base - The Sign (Official) - YouTube

not trying to correct you, I get a kick when someone else reminds me of other songs from the same artist

I can't tell you how many times on this one thread I've been like 'How did I forget that song?'

And 'Drops of Jupiter' is clearly the song I think of when I think of Train. Not sure what other hits they've had.

Ok here's one to stir up the hornet's nest....Eddy Grant...I've been told he's very successful elsewhere but the only song I really remember is 'Electric Avenue'. i do remember 'Romancing the stone', but did it do well on the charts?

Also does anyone know his other songs he had success without outside the US?
