Well the weather is famously awful, we get more rain than anywhere else in England, the place is quite depressing and there are plenty of nasty areas. We tend to be a complaining, miserable bunch. Still, it's inspired some of the best bands in the world and it's home for me.

A lot of great bands have emerged from the Pacific Northwest region of the US (Seattle/Portland area), and we also have a reputation for gloomy/rainy weather. Depression can inspire those with a gift for music, I suppose. It's the Manchester of the US in that respect.

Except people in the Pacific Northwest have a reputation for being nice.

It's not so much arrogance or assholishness, It's more of a confidence, forthrightness & swagger that can be mistaken for being an asshole if you're not used to it.

I grew up with someone from Manchester living next door to me and they were just like that too so I've always been exposed to it.

You know, I think I prefer them as Black Grape than when they were in the Happy Mondays. The whole Manchester dance sound is growing on me a lot this week!
