I listen to 'analphabetapolothology' in its entirety, it's all their work on one record and it doesn't grate me at around 39 tracks long.
They've definitely got character but they also are talented musicians so they don't solely rely on their quirkiness (which you saw as annoying)
As far as I can remember I only listened to it once and didn't particularly like it. I was stumbling through music on one of my external HDs yesterday, came across their album and thought about giving it another go. I'll give it a listen today and look for those traits you've mentioned.

In the end I think it may have been his unexpected claim that he was "bigger than the Beatles" that did for him. You just can't let that sort of blasphemy slide, and he lost a lot of devout fans of the Fab Four in protest. After that, musical and personal differences within the band led to a split, despair and betrayal and in the end, the music press crucified him.

His comeback album, "Back from the dead", released on Easter Sunday, courted fresh controversy when worshippers of the Easter Bunny took offence, and it got panned by critics. He was never the same afterwards. People said it would take a miracle for him to be popular again, and so it proved.

Ok, what's so great about Mumford & Sons? I just find them so generic and awful. I don't get the appeal at all.

All of the bands I've seen in this thread so far can be covered from bad to average so I would suggest if you don't get what's so great about them it probably means you have a modicum of taste.

Same here. I remember a friend playing them a few years ago and me really liking them. Then a little while later I listened to them fully expecting to still love them and all of a sudden all I heard was dull indie rock with a few shallow folk bits thrown on.

Has indie folk and stuff like that become a fad? Bright Eyes, Mumford & Sons, Zac Brown Band, they all have become insanely popular even though most of them are "indie". It's ironic.

Nothing, we just offer one and let everyone argue amongst themselves.
