How is that attacking him as a "human being"?
How is that attacking his "character"?

I am specificially speaking about his "music videos"which havent made a significant impact on pop culture.

The second opinion has nothing to do with Justin specifically and more to do with the industry's idealogies around the face of the R&B genre. This has been going on since the beginning of time. It makes no sense how this white man can go away fro seven years and mimic R&B music that has always beenin existence but for some reason when he does it is presented as something "innovative". There are much better R&B African American singers/artists that make much more authentic R&B music.

No I am not attacking him because my criticism is specifically on his music videos and the way the media/industry promotes him. All those things has nothing to do with him as a "person" which is why I dont understand why you think I am "attacking" him. Giving critique/criticism and attacking are two different things. What you did to Michael Jackson in that MJ thread was "attacking". You were attacking his "character" and judging who he was as a person. That is "attacking".

Can you elaborate? Because looking at all your posts you seem to have a issue with anybody constructively criticising anything. In that Jay Z thread, I explained to you that I am very opinionated when it comes to music. Sometimes you make it appear as though your opinion is more superior than others. This is my opinion and you can overanalyze or misinterpret it anyway you want lol

Do you like to argue with people for the sake of it? lol

Because I think I have been pretty straightforward and direct with all my opinion on this site.

I flat out said from the get go that MTV should stop making their award shows because they dont even play music or music videos. I flat out said all the pop artists now for the most part are crap. I flat out said JT did not deserve that award because he has not made any groundbreaking music videos.

So I guess I am trying to figure out what more you want me to say and why you think I am sugarcoating my opinion??? lol You can search back and look at this entire thread. I have said the same things and have been pretty clear and direct with how I feel.

In the JT thread, I said that his latest album was the same ol music he has been making since his debut but I also said that he at least tries to be creative with his music. He has some songs that I like and he makes descent music but I wouldnt call it groundbreaking either. Also, there are way better R&B artists but thats beside the point.

If that's how you choose to interpret my posts then so be it but that's not the case at all.

People always like to throw this out there but mtv DOES show music videos and has music-related shows. They just aren't in the primetime like they used to be. They still play music videos though. If you are up late night over night you will see them and also in the mornings. There are also different MTV channels dedicated to just playing music videos but only if you have the cable packages that offer those channels. There is MTV Jams, there is an MTV channel that colleges get. I can't remember the name of it they always play music that college kids like usually indie stuff. There is an MTV channel dedicated to playing music for hispanic people. MTV Trios or something along those lines. There are a variety of channels related to MTV playing music videos. You and other people that spout that silly line just don't care about MTV or else they would KNOW this!

I didn't get to watch the VMAs (Turkey...time difference...blah blah blah)...and my computer is too stupid to function on the MTV website for some reason. Does anybody know a place where I could watch the whole show?

Also, from the vids I've seen so far, all I can say is the N*SYNC "reunion" was WAY too short. I don't know who's idea that was but they ****ed up a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I have absolutely heard all of Ray of Light. I just don't relate to her and her music doesn't get me excited. I always see people going on about her all the time like she's a God or something.

Likewise with how you misinterpret my constructive criticism

I am talking about the MAIN MTV channel which is what their award show is promoting. They are not promoting those indie artists on those specific channels that you can only get at certain universities or cable packages. Those are not "universal" MTV channels. This conversation is on the main universal MTV channel.

MTV took off their music television channel label last year. They dont want to be a music channel. They are not a music channel anymore (which they made perfectly clear over the last decade). They might occassionally play music videos but that is not something they are heavily promoting so I think having a music award show is unnessary. I think a more appropiate award show for MTV should focus more on reality tv shows since that is what they mostly promote.

You think Brittany Spears has made groundbreaking videos on the same level of Michael Jackson and Madonna???

Yea we are done...lol

MJ Vanguard Award is actually a Lifetime Achievement Award and they changed the name of the award to the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in 91... Her nor Justin deserve a lifetime acheivement award at this point in their careers and they have not made groundbreaking music videos on the same level of the past recipients.

well of course nobody gonna compare to the king of pop

like michael jordan in bball. he is the messiah. no matter what accomplishments other have its the fact he represents a specific time period musically, culturally, socially, etc. it would be impossible for any basketball player to have the impact jordan had. it just wouldnt be possible.

same with mike jackson. so realtalk u want them to give the award to nobody forever?? its cool if u do ust askin

^^^ I did not imply that at all. There are other people who have won the award besides Michael Jackson like Janet Jackson, Madonna, Beatles etc With that being said, I dont think they should just give the award to just "anybody". I think their should be some type of artistic merit behind it since it is such a prestigious award.

So you saying that they should just give the award to anybody??? I think its insulting to all those other artists that really tried to push the music video medium and actually did more iconic things with it.

My question to you is how can you determine if the artists of TODAY are influenced by Lady Gaga??? For all you know they can be influenced by Madonna. I highly doubt that Lady Gaga is influencing her own peers being everything that she is doing has already been done.

Your arguement is centered around the "clothes" that Gaga wears and I think that Madonna was more shocking in alot of other aspects besides "image".You say that Gaga was more shocking but you just keep bringing up the clothes she wears which is just one area compared to the many areas Madonna was more controversial in.

I disagree. How is she the influence in todays pop music? Yea she is a big pop star today but I dont understand what you are trying to say with this comment.

It is terrible but that is what is likely to happen. I know Gaga is overrated( I have said million times). Lady Gaga has a great voice but ruins with her nonsense whorish antics. I just wonder why Gaga can once just focus on her singing.

Real Talk, understand I am speaking of Today's pop music not pop music genre of all years. OK.
`

I disagree but if that is your opinion, I can respect it. Singers have been using shock value to sell there brand for decades. It didnt stop with Madonna. I think its not good rational thinking to give all that credit to Gaga since she copies Madonna. To be honest, I think they all are influenced by Madonna and "what sells" but thats my opinion

^They dont give the award out every year....

I think the award is currently used as a "promotional" tool.

Beat it was him screaming in a warehouse and having a knife fight in an alley. What really has MJ done that JT hasn't? I think JT is every bit the icon that MJ was. I'm not really much of a pop fan but hes a pretty dedicated and talented artist.
