I'll agree with you about the bling rap, but I can find a lot of grindcore I enjoy. If your more into punk I'd pobably start with crust before trying it again.

A mixed grab bag of stuff. A lot of metal, but mostly of the slightly alternative kind. + Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Depeche Mode, Joanna Newsom, PJ Harvey... I don't know. Kind of a mix of things that catch my ear. I even have a single Barbra Streisand CD, though I hate the rest of her stuff. I just think I need music to do something interesting melodically and hip hop tends to be all about the vocals (lyrics, really). It kind of loses me by default on that.

Well have you tried rap metal like Stuck Mojo or Rage Against the Machine? Or if it's melody you want you should try jazz rap. Like A Tribe Called Quest, Busdriver, MF Doom, De La Soul, or some of To Pimp a Butterfly.

I gave the three tracks you linked a full listen, checked out A Tribe Called Quest (the low end theory album), MF Doom (greatest hits album) Stuck Mojo (Rising album), De La Soul (me myself and I video), Busdriver (imaginary places, me time, avantcore videos).

Liked the beat but found the track repetitive as a whole:

It really bothers me that rappers tend to always stay on the same pitch throughout the song.

Was entertained somewhat by *gasp* the actual rapping!:
Busdriver, MF Doom. Death Grips was at least something new as I'm not used to rappers screaming at me

Also, De La Soul had some nice music but I didn't like his rapping.

Rage Against the Machine/Stuck Mojo just kind of bore me. At least they sound pretty heavy. I felt the groove, but the rapping killed it.

EDIT: Forgot to mention Kendrick Lamar. Listened to parts of To Pimp a Butterfly and it sounds pretty nice as such. I can dig the music if I just drop down anywhere in any random track, but as a whole, I find it hard to stay interested. Guess his voice is pretty neat. He almost sings at times! ... But then I'm saying I like a rapper best when he doesn't rap. Whenever he reminds me of Prince, I like him

If you kind of like DOOM, check out his magnum opus Madvillainy.

This was the first hip hop record that I got into was Boom Bip & Doseone's Circle. It's some really out there stuff and it made me more open to rapping itself (I used to hate hip hop only a few years ago).
