I was born in 1976

1976-1981
at an early age....mainly due to my mother i fell in love with The Beatles, Barry Manilow, and Neil Diamond....i also grew a never dying hatred for Anne Murray...

1981-1985
being raised in the early 80s my parents resorted to a new necessary evil for my sister and I.....cable

because of this i watched from the beginning the institution that is Mtv....i actually am very appreciative of those years as i honestly think they helped meld my music taste....those years introduced me to DEVO, Depeche Mode (two bands that would always be a huge part of my life), Pat Benater and Blondie

1985-1987
The first album that i ever bought was Dare to Be Stupid by Weird Al Yankovic the next album i bought was AC/DC 'Who Made Who'.....

around this time i took up skateboarding and the older kids who were teaching me all listened to bands like Anthrax....but i fell in love with three drunk misogynists from Brooklyn.....

My fist live show (that i wanted to go to) was Run DMC and The Beastie Boys.....my mom still gives me **** for making her go

as i moved into middle school things changed a bit.....my father had hired a babysitter for myself and my younger brother and sister.....she was a "punk"....one night she let me stay up late and we sat on my fathers porch smoking cigarettes and talking about how much i hated school, life and my father....when she sent me off to bed she gave me a cassette tape....it was Dead Kennedys 'In God We Trust Inc'....this was a life changing moment

1988-1990
in the middle of my 7th grade year my father disowned me and sent me from Baltimore to Reno NV.....it fucking sucked....i immediately fell in with the stoner kids and started a good strong education in Metal....

Mainly Metallica, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden....anything evil fast and hard....that a 13 year old could get his hands on

by the end of my 8th grade year i had left the stoner bullshit behind and fallen in with an old friend who had an amazing older brother....Jason

Jason re-sparked my love for Depeche Mode and DEVO....as well as introducing me to the likes of The Cure, Bauhaus, Christian Death, Joy Division, Einstürzende Neubauten, Ministry, Sisters of Mercy and Jesus and Mary Chain (and many other 80s alt bands)....another life changing event

One week before entering High School i went and saw Nitzer Ebb, Siouxsie and The Banshees, and Depeche Mode (on the Violator tour)

1990-1994
i watched 120 Minutes like the religious went to church....in early 1991 they premiered a video from a new band called Nirvana....i was forever sold on the genius of this band right from the get go....i ate up everything those tree men said.....if they mentioned a band in an interview i bought the first album i could find....if i saw someone wearing a cool shirt at the local underground music store i struck up a conversation and took every suggestion i could get....i read liner notes and band thanks from records like they were instructions for Satan himself....this was my true introduction to my true musical love.....noise rock

during these years i also got involved in the local hardcore scene....although i was never straight edge i enjoyed and for the most part agreed with the message....part of this lead to my moral decision to do what i could to stop the killing of all animals by man

towards the end of these years i went to a party and this guy made me sit down and watch a video called 'Pigpile' by a band called Big Black.....at this same party i tried LSD for the first time.....nothing heavy....two hits of speed laced blotter acid...during this trip i head Throbbing Gristle for the first time.....this event changed my life forever

it was days later that i first heard Current 93 and Swans....who are by far my two favorite bands...

1994-2000
I explored more subversive and transgressive industrial music during these years but in many ways in secret....mainly because i had entered the punk scene....and from my experience the punk scene had some of the most closed minded people on earth....well at least when it came to music.....i took the 90s punk scene by the horns....booking shows, writing zines, bands stayed at my house weekly....its was a great time....i met tons of great people....saw some of the best bands the genre has ever had to offer and created enemies that will never forgive me (lots of bad drug use for me )....towards the end of the 90s i was so sick of the continues bullshit involved in being in the scene....i walked a bridge and lit the fucker and have almost never looked back

2000-2004
the early part of this time i mainly concentrated on Jazz, Free Jazz and avant garde....

I moved back to Baltimore and fell in with a small group of existential misanthropes and Satanists....this is when i fell in love with power electronics, harsh noise, and martial industrial.....after about two years i was having strong conflicts within myself....and had to leave the area....

moving to the home of the great record label ever....Minneapolis.....even though Minneapolis was the home of Amphetamine Reptile....it was way too cold for a 6 foot 135 pound vegan!...I packed up and moved to the one city i knew would always have great music.....Seattle.

2005-2009
The first week i lived in Seattle i saw Scratch Acid and Boris.....and knew i had made the right decision.....i also started listening to a lot more indie pop and indie folk....finding a nice dualist contradiction in both my musical taste and general view towards life

I will say this Seattle is a music lovers city.....not saying that any major city is a music lovers city....but Seattle really had a musical charm to it....and really still does.....i saw at least three live acts a week when i lived there and there was always something new and interesting going on

then sickness and surgeries.....the morning of the the day they removed my large intestine i rode my bike around the empty streets of downtown Seattle listening to Soundtracks For The Blind by Swans....which i can honestly say was the only thing that stopped me from completely cracking up....i decided to listen to the Melvins/Lustmord album while still obliterated on drugs when coming out of Surgery and still under Anesthetic influence.....also The Current 93/Nurse With Wound collaboration 'Bright Yellow Moon '

for the remainder of my time in the hospital i primarily listened to dark ambient and neo-classical....which i can honestly say....that this, the loss of the two i loved most, and a re-introduction to opiate dependance nearly caused my death....i left Seattle at the request of dear friends and returned to the town where my oldest friends and family were....Reno.

2009-Present
i don't think my musical taste has change in any way......it still represents my personality as a whole and the constant conflicts i have with it.....if anything joining this forum has broadened my musical interests in music i flirted with or perhaps generally ignored
