I've listened to it a few more times, and it's grown on me a bit, but the vocals are just as ****ty as ever, which is a big thing. And the stuff that is coming off good actually makes me think that Metallica is ripping off both Show No Mercy and South of Heaven Slayer, but far more lame. Even when I first heard that song I was confused by how much it sounded more like lame Slayer than Kill Em All, which is what other people think it sounds like.

But regardless, no matter how much I might have grown into the song (whatever its name is cause I don't care) it's still no better than mediocre. But I guess it's still mediocre rather than complete ass.

Because the songs were good. Even if the production was wonky the songs were still better than 99% of their peers. And even the production was still better than those peers, cause Flemming Rasmussen.

Death magnetic was probably the best for sound quality. The problem was that Metallica is a band that's at their best with a raw sound. The album was over produced.
