I guess my favourite year would be 1979. Turned 14 that year and the music scene was so varied. In a typical top 40 chart you would see pop, punk, new-wave, disco, country, prog rock, metal, classical, reggae and everything else under the sun.

My favourite year is quite close, as 2014 was just over-the-top-amazing for me!
Just a lot of great new albums from several of my favourite artists. The streak continued pretty good in 2015, and 2011 was a similarly good year.
Back before 2000 I don't have enough of an overview over exactly what albums were published each year, so I don't know.
I guess 1992 was pretty good: Debut album from Tori Amos, Faith No More's Gold Dust, a good Prince album and Megadeth's Countdown to Extinction plus a great sophomore album from Waltari.
Can't mention a single great year earlier than 1973 for sure, even if I go research my collection.

1989-1994 were the best years for me, I like the oldskool Italian and British House jams from that era

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Oops, mixed it up with another album title. Angel Dust. I know, I know, whatever...

The winner by quantity according to my iTunes is 2009 at 332. It's a close victory though with years in the early to mid 2000s around the 250-310 range.

Makes sense, 16 at the time and had listened to some highly influential music at the time.
