I think this is like 1 of 5 "songs you love by bands you hate" threads on the forum. Plus consider that the thread is less than 2 hours old.

Am I not allowed to hate the whiney wannabe Bohemian musings of Michael Stipe. I live to hate REM.

"The Carpal Tunnel Of Love" by Fall Out Boy is a wonderful song.

In the Aeroplane over the Sea- Neutral Milk Hotel.

Well, I've been putting myself through this album alot lately and each time it gets just a little bit better. Some tracks (oh comely, two headed boy pt. 2, King of Carrot flowers pts. 2-3) are still very hard to get through though.

But...but... he writes songs about two headed cows and power line floaters. And Losing My Religion clocks in as a better stalker song than any other.

It's just his voice. I can't handle it. He puts forth a very self absorbed "artsier than thou" Persona as well. And if you were 21 when Losing my Religion was at maximum rotation in the general media like I was you might not like it so much either. It's ok. I have a laundry list of great bands I can't stand because their frontmen get on my nerves.

It's an acquired taste... I guess. I always thought they were just a likable band. Huh.

To me they've always been a very pedestrian band. Definitely not unlikable, objectively speaking, but a tad bit on the *yawn* side.
