I don't like them either. I just didn't hear any difference. I could listen to a thousand bands like this; The Agonist didn't stand out to me in any way, at least on that song.

To me, the thing that I really like about The Agonist (their current iteration, like mentioned) is how musically solid they are. I really think they have a very good drummer, a very good bassist and two very good guitarists, all of whom add a lot of musicality and flair to what might otherwise be some fairly standard songs. There's especially a lot of the drum playing and the bass playing in the posted track that I find to be far above the level found in somewhat similar bands. I have come to quite like the singer as well, but the musicians are the real secret to why I love this band.

In This Moment, in contrast, have really bad, sub-cookie cutter music and pretty much not a single talented member.

BUT, anyway. If I'm allowed to make another suggestion at a later date, I'll have to think harder about what I choose. I'd actually like it to be something you'd enjoy.

Another thing I'm going to do here - to kind of give a sense of purpose, direction or final destination to this thread, assuming it doesn't die a death - is to add up the ratings for each genre or subgenre (look, I'm fed up writing that: can we just assume that when I say genre I also mean or subgenre?) and if I get over a certain figure (I'm thinking 100 but haven't decided) I will then consider myself interested enough to ask for a rec for an album from that genre. I'll keep that score table in the OP so we can see how each genre is impressing me, or not.

I never say subgenre. I just assume people have a brain cell and realize I mean subgenre.
