BEST experiences: Wow, hard to pick. I saw Ace Frehley several years ago in Toronto at a small venue and there was a special kind of energy that stands out in my mind, and I still remember the vibe to this day.
Recently, Greta Van Fleet rocked hard too at a similar type of venue in Toronto (I guess smaller venues with the right band have a certain feeling).
Getting to see Alive Cooper AND Black Sabbath with Dio was f---in awesome.
So many live shows that I enjoyed its hard to pick.

WORST experiences: Not so much for the show but I was at a KISS concert with some friends, and one friend got kicked out and preceded to text me and tell me all about how sh--y of a friend I was for not leaving with him (he was drunk, but still we're not friends anymore either way for other reasons).

Also, not so much a bad gig but a funny one was a local band I saw where the music was not so bad but the front man was just awful on the mic between songs. It actually became comical "Uh ya that was ______ song, ummm, so, wait, what was I gonna say? oh well, I think we're gonna do ______ song next... (Then one of his bandmates say something to him) Oh, I guess we're not doing that song, ok whatever..."

In terms of a band performing badly, I cant really think of an act where I was disappointed with the music performance itself, I saw Iron Maiden from lawn seats once, and I use the word "saw" lightly as I couldn't see sh-- from behind a huge crowd super far away, that kinda sucks but that's what you get for cheap tickets and its not the bands fault.

Going to see Robert Plant recently was also kind of funny as everytime he performed a Zeppelin tune, the entire audience would stand up, as soon as he started performing one of his newer songs, the entire audience would sit down, like clockwork.

Was it when Black Sabbath/Dio were Heaven and Hell? Cause seeing them doing songs from Dehumanizer and The Devil You Know would have been heavy ****. Everyone talks about Heaven and Hell and Sign of the Southern Cross, but they made good **** with supreme balls for those reunions.

I love Dehumanizer and ya it was Heaven and Hell. Dio in general seemed to start recording heavier and doomy songs later on. I saw HAH twice in 2006/7, once with Megadeth and Down opening and once with Alice Cooper. The were both awesome shows. Dio's voice was a little weaker the first time but he blew it away the second time.

Some of those 90s Dio albums were def cool even if they're not remembered well by fans. Strange Highways went hard as a bitch especially.

For sheer spectacle, KISS. I was them back in their original run and you just couldn't look at all of it at once.

Also, Madonna put on a great show when I saws her back in maybe 88 or 89.

For sound, again, Madonna, and also Boston. It's not often you get great, stereo quality sound at concert volume.

Best overall concert experience, Iron Maiden. Front row, hands on the stage, interacting with every member of the band at one point or another during the show, (including Nicko McBrain handing me a genuine used in concert drumstick), that show hasn't been, and never will be, topped in my concert going history.

Worst...

Sound, Heart's bass was a low rumble that never stopped and actually started to hurt your ears after a while.

Ted Nugent. I love Uncle Ted & have seen him 4 times, but the last one was just way too loud. There was no distinction of sound, just white noise. you couldn't hear a single note on any solo. Just really bad.

John Mellencamp. My wife's favorite. For the money I paid, you'd think we'd have gotten more than 1 hour and ten minutes. It wasn't a bad show. But it was really short. There was definitely this huge 'we've been ripped off' vibe from everyone when the lights came up.
