I really enjoyed and was thrilled about David Berman coming back to music as Purple Mountains. Such a great album, really gut wrenching stuff, but it didn't hit me till after he passed away. It was like seeing red flags after it was too late.

For some reason, the digital release is a single track instead of being split up like on the physical release. Anyone know what's up with that?

This is definitely making my balls tingle. The vocals have the deftness of both Mel Torme and Fela Kuti. The piano pulsates in a way that brings McCoy Tyner to mind. The orchestration is fabulously lush and makes me think Gil Evans. That’s a lot of name dropping but it’s still very unique. Without any hesitation I can right off the bat call this 5/5 unassailable highest praise and the other language of deification I’m known for. This is ****ing great!!!

I've given it two full spins now. I could see it being AOTY material. Might be the best thing they've done since Attahk way back in '78.

Yes. It occurred to me that ignorance was probably bliss tbh. Since I can’t even count to one in French it’s just sound. I’m sure if it were English I’d hate it.
