For such a famously pretentious jerkwad, his list of favorites is pretty generic
He's famous for being basic though. There are plenty of British rockers pretending to be poètes maudits but he's the one who doesn't

Guys isn't it a little hypocritical of you to call him a basic bitch but then rip him apart for including the La's in his top ten even though they're the only kinda obscure band on the list?

I'm saying this as someone who considers Noel Gallagher to be one of the most insufferable people on the planet mind you.

Also the La's are a perfectly fine jangle pop band, don't dismiss them just because you only know the one song that's more radio friendly than everything else they did, also There She Goes is great you guys suck.

First of all, I do suck. Second of all, I like Noel, he's a funny geezer. Third of all, no charges of basicness have ever been beaten through citing the La's. They may be relatively obscure now but they had a big impact on Britpop (through the genius idea of ripping off the 60s). When I used to buy Q Magazine as a teenager they were regularly included in the great albums lists.

Anyway since you like them, Bob Stanley of Saint Etienne (the great and underrated UK pop outfit from that era) tweeted something very appreciative about them the other day https://twitter.com/rocking_bob/stat...93434763591681

Of course we're all entitled to our favourites, even Noel G, but yeah, that's a depressingly unadventurous list. Thanks for pointing out the unvarying Britishness of it. Plus it never really strays from retro mainstream rock, as far as I can judge.

^ Yep, those comments pretty much sum up the impression I have of NG.

Questionable (except Patton) but still less boring than Noel Gallagher.
