wHO likes TOOL? (discography, quote)

I find Tool samey & boring also. I`ve listened to 3 albums and as far as I am concerned thats more than enough chances for me.
There have been other albums I don`t 'get' by other bands Kid A by Radiohead being an good example but it was never samey or boring and there were at least small things I could pick up on. I don`t get that with Tool , to me every song either has cliched sludgy rock riffs , either incoherent mumbling or high pitched wailing , throw in a few angsty lyrics and dress it up into some overelaborate packaging with some pretentious & angsty videos and you have Tool.
I can understand the appeal of Tool (Your average metal kid one step up from Limp Bizkit , who gets a hard on thinking that they`re now listening to 'intelligent' music) but I will never ever see what is so great about this band.

nah tool are a ton better than APC. Tool aren't that bad, I just really can't get into them.

I agree tool isn't bad. but I prefer A perfect Circle to Tool as a personal preference.
I find APC's music more relaxing compared to Tool's

word. I couldn't get into the second cd at all. I only liked maybe 2 or 3 songs. Didn't even bother with the 3rd.

Out of Tool's cd I only like two. lateralus and Aenima. I bought 10,000 Fists and I haven't listened and it's just not something I found myself listening to often.

Now A Perfect Circle I listen to almost every day. They're songs are more something that Tool songs lack or just don't have.

best APC album is either Thirteenth Step or Mer de Norms.

Tool is a band that you either get into or you don't. It has nothing to do with feeling smart or buying into any of their pseudo-occultist crap, but sometimes the music just speaks to you. Considering that you all frequent a music forum, I would hope that you can kind of understand what I'm talking about. If it doesn't fine, but there's no reason to bash Tool fans as pretentious wannabe elitists, and if it does, that's great too, but you have to respect those that don't like them and not try to shove Tool down their throat. For me, Tool really does it, I think their albums have a great flow (apart from maybe the latest one, which I never really got into) and that their songs have a great deal of musical depth. If I listen to Aenima or Lateralus, it's an immersive experience and it takes me to another place. I don't sit their thinking "oh maynard, you're so much smarter than Fred Durst, only I get you."

That is all.

Refering to the actuall topic and not giving two ****s about who likes Tool or whatever you people are talking about, obviously maynard isn't refering to bands like Knapsack, Embrace or La Quiete because just labeling them in the same breath as emo feels pretty rediculous.

I love Tool and Maynard and I think what maynard is saying in that song is that we're all sell outs in the end so what does "selling out" even mean? He saying that here's this kid telling him he sold out...when all the kid ever knew about was sold to him, so yeah, in that sense they "sold out" but whose buying the albums, dumbass? you know?....he comes across as arrogant in that quote but I totally see his point...
