I like it, especially how it all builds up to the last two songs and then lets it all out. Great album, but I don't think it is good enough to make my top ten.

the DU

to be brutally honest... Punch Drunk is the first song I ever heard and it's still my favourite. I only ever click with records like Zen Arcade and Vs.(the hardcore epics) once in a blue moon, no idea why

OK who wants some Husker Du demos.

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

There are 2 loads of demos here. The first is a bunch of studio demos recorded between 1979 & 1980. The second is their Northern Lights demo , also from 1980.
There are quite a few unreleased songs here and also some studio versions of songs that ended up on Land Speed Record.

I don't think the brilliance of an album like Zen Arcade can be realised after a couple of listens. It is a real grower and it just keeps on growing. It is in my top ten thats for sure. Def the best Husker Du album in my books, 2nd I would probably say New Day Rising.

Never knew this thread was here!! I love them they're such a great band, they could combine intensity, melody and good songwriting perfectly. It's tough to pick a favourite album though, i'm split between Zen Arcade, New Day Rising and Candy Apple Grey.

Great band. 'Flip Your Wig' is my favourite, I've only really realised that recently as prior to that I defaulted to the extra ambition of 'Warehouse: Songs And Stories'. FYW is just that bit more compact and satisfying. Both essential though.

Nova Mob were OK although I think Grant's stadium bombast came more to the fore there. I prefer his solo LP 'Intolerance' to anything NM did. Sugar were fabulous, 'Copper Blue' joins those 2 HD LPs to make a flawless triple whammy, quite possibly top of the shop but that's a tough call. Just buy all 3 and enjoy.
