For all you Trip Hop junkies...here are a few unmentioned artists from CD's I have that I would consider under the T-H umbrella should keep you chewing for a while (no particular order :-)):
Aim, Archive, Baby Namboos, Blockhead, Cinematic Orchestra (jazzy style), De Phazz, DJ Krush (& with Toshinori Kondo), Earthling, Howie B, Kid Loco, Martina Topley Bird (Tricky's singer in early albums - now solo) Costanza (Tricky's newer Italian singer), Rae & Christian, RJD2, Rockers Hi Fi, Sade, Suba (Brazillian), Tommy Guerrero...another tip, you can go to [link removed] type in an artists and other artists will appear based on similar downloaded or purchased music

Well, troll or not, how say you about Blockhead? Particularly the song Bullfight in Ireland or The Music Scene. Is he trippin? Or is he triphop?

Additionally,

Bonobo? I propose the song Silver if interested...

Did you listen to other DJ Shadow besides Entroducing? Private Press, Preemptive Stike, etc?

And Tobacco, with the albums Maniac Meat and Fuc#ed Up Friends...

My Mediamonkey has Bluetech's Prima Materia listed as TripHop, but that I would say is more ambient in nature...

Default I'll add to the list...

and repeat a few.

Tricky, Massive Attack, Portishead, Lamb, Red Snapper, Peanut Butter Wolf, Bomb the Bass (sort of), Andrea Parker (kind of Portishead lite, with more instrumental tracks), Moonshake, Laika, maybe even Alabama 3 - responsible for the Sopranos theme song, "Woke Up This Morning."

I might also consider Barry Adamson slightly trip hop. Adamson is the former bass player for Nick Cave's Bad Seeds, but has been doing his own jazzy, spacey, film noir-ish solo music since the mid-'80s. Massive Attack borrowed the same sample Barry appropriated for his track "Something Wicked This Way Comes," and used it on their second album, Protection. David Lynch also used the song on the soundtrack to his movie Lost Highway.

Check it out and see if you can recognize the sample Massive Attack borrowed after the fact:

Here's another Barry favorite, with vocals. "Black Amour":

Another favorite: "Straight 'Til Sunrise" - maybe a little Burt Bacharach on the trip hop tip? ...Do I need to explain that I'm a hopeless Barry fan?

Laika is Margaret Fiedler and John Frennet from Moonshake, along with Moonshake and MVB producer Guy Fixen. Check them out:

"Alphabet Soup"

"Uneasy"

"Never miss the water 'til the well runs dry.
Never miss the sun 'til it leaves the sky.
Never know when it's too late to try.
Never love a man 'til he says goodbye..."

Dare I interpret this as "music that's good at inducing a euphoria"? I am a fan of psychedelic music and also see the trip-hop "connection". So many other cool ingredients come into play with trip hop. This is a great discussion and I am learning a lot here. I would like to toss into the hat select bits by Mono (do a search on YouTube for "LIFE IN MONO - MONO"), even Stereolab at moments and (gasp) St. Etienne (especially the first album). I prefer this to the Café Del Mar type collections/mixes only because I still have a weakness for song structure (and female vocals for sure). Maybe I just havent been on a Ibiza for 48 hours without sleep enough times yet
Oh and lest I forget Morcheeba!
My 2cents and I hope that I am not too far off base.

How freaking awesome is Risingson?!! Thanks to the Massive Attack thread, I dusted off my copy of Mezzanine and gave it another spin. Cannot get enough of the first 4 or 5 tracks! Risingson could be THE perfect example of a song for anyone curious about what trip hop is.

"Risingson" is probably my favorite of theirs, but I feel like the second half of that album doesn't get its fair share of love. "Man Next Door" is one of the most epic experiences I've ever had.

Currently listening to Bowery Electric's Beat; not as trip-hoppy as Lushlife, but the drum beats are still as addictive and the droning walls of sound still sound spectacular in headphones.

I would give, Archive - Londinium a spin if you have already tried out Portishead - Dummy and of course Massive Attack - Mezzanine. I'm currently listening through a couple of their albums and having a blast. Will definitely have to give a couple of these other bands a listen at some point, though for all the music I find now adays from this board..almost have to schedule it..haha.

One artist that hasn't been mentioned is DJ Krush.

Some examples of his stuff:

On the Dub-ble - Krush (S/T)

Inorganizm - Kakusei (his best album in my opinion)

Transition - Jaku
