The Dismemberment Plan

I decided to make a new thread on them because the last one described them as the soft Fall of Troy...

So yeah, they kind of remind me of a much much better version of early Built to Spill but only at times sometimes they're just way too crazy for that. Emergency & I is one of the best albums I've put on in awhile easily, fantastic lyrics and very creative. Discuss, appreciate etc. What Do You Want Me To Say? is my favorite song.

Recommended Songs:
The City
What Do You Want Me To Say?
You Are Invited
A Life of Possibilities

I always appreciate the fact that you put non mainstream bands forward. Whether they are liked or not, an appreciation of these bands is vital to musics longevity amidst the commercial garbage that is plastered across most mediums these days.

Even if you don't like these bands, comments and acknowledgements are not just appreciated;but needed. The Pavement comparison was'nt good for me as I love Pavement and they are not really doing a lot for me. At least I am commenting!

The Pavement comparison was kind of off I meant to say Built to Spill.

What Do You Want Me To Say? is pretty awesome. I also liked The Face of the Earth. It had a good vibe, but the lyrics were really what drew me in.

Hey did you know TDP are reuniting for a small tour and re-release of Emergency & I? I've been planning to see them in March, but just learned that they will be on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight.

Quote:

Somehow, the bookers at "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" have managed to secure an appearance from an impressive array of big indie bands that have reunited recently. And early next year, they'll get another one. Skittery D.C. post-punk legends the Dismemberment Plan, triumphantly getting back together for a few shows and an Emergency & I reissue in January, will play the show on Thursday, January 20. That's the night before the first of the band's reunion shows, which means that Fallon, ?uestlove, and the studio audience will get to see the reunited D-Plan before anyone else does. What will they play? "The Ice of Boston"? "The City"? "Time Bomb"? Too many possibilities!

The band has also added exactly one more show to their reunion tour; they hit Seattle's Showbox SoDo on March 12. According to the band's website, that's the last of the U.S. reunion shows. All dates below.

01-21 Washington, DC - The Black Cat *
01-22 Washington, DC - 9:30 Club ^

I just listened to Emergency & I and I have to wonder if it’s really as great as the critics say.

I’m thinking very good but not unassailable.

If I’m wrong what am I missing?

You're missing the zany fun of it all and the clever af lyrics ig but I'm sure you had your share of fun from the record too if you think it's very good.

Pitchfork and Tiny Mix Tapes gave it the highest rating possible.

I'd call it a 10/10 personally as well, it's just as enjoyable as it is emo
