Smile American Indie, Lo-Fi, Noise-Pop Bands?

Who else can't get enough of this indie, lo-fi surf-esque sound coming out of America from bands such as Best Coast, Wavves, Dum Dum Girls, Cults etc.

Personally I adore the sound, it's like the soundtrack to a summers day in California.

If you haven't heard it already, you should definitely check out one of the bands I suggested. (Preferably Best Coast)

Who agrees? Who Disagrees? And Why!?

I partially agree, a lot of the bands are fairly good. Best Coast, Girls and Surfer Blood especially. But I think Wavves is terrible, I hate him.

Yes Girls and Surfer Blood! I forgot. Oh yeah I wasn't a fan of Wavves until I heard his third LP release 'King Of The Beach'. If you have heard and still aren't a fan then fair enough, but if you haven't heard it... give it a little listen, it might convert you as it did me !

I'm like James, I partially agree.

It's alright.

I don't know why, but one day I had the sudden impulse to get Surfer Blood's Astrocoast. I usually have no interest in that kind of music, but I really wanted to get it for no reason. The Verdict: One of the best albums of 2010. It'll probably show up on my top 10 list in the near future.

So you guys kinda like the sound but aren't crazy for it like I am then? Ahah, I guess I'm disappointed... perhaps my taste for the music is driven by a constant desire to visit California in the summer!

I like some of it, but it's just a fad.
The latest trend, and a lot of bands use the cool Indie Lo-Fi to blanket the lack of quality in their songs.
But some of it is really good.
Girls and No Age - I like them.

Ah I love it when that happens! When for a minute or two your mind just opens to something new and your'e either disappointed by the result and stick to what you know or in your case you find something new to keep you happy for a while.

I was at leeds festival in england this year and missed the chance to see Surfer Blood, I was pretty bummed out about it!

Yeah, I agree with that... I can see that it is a trend and I'm normally against following trends for the sake of following trends, but in this case I actually really dig it! Best Coast is my favourite of them all. I haven't heard No Age, what are they like?
