^ Well that'll make you understand Lebanese, Jordanian and Palestinian dialects (and Syrian of course), there's some differences, but mainly the same words.
The others need some translation some times.

I know, that's why chose Syrian. In my college we can choose between Syrian (the teacher is from Jordan), Moroccan (the teacher is from Morocco) and Iraqi (the teacher, of course is from Iraq). Next year there will be Egyptian available.I am supposed to travel to Syria with some friends this summer to learn more of the dialect. We were also going to visit Lebanon, but there is one girl from Lebanon who studies with me and she says that Beirut is one of the most expensive cities on the planet, so we canceled the visit.

lol that's a lie, it's the cheapest place. Down town is maybe expensive, but it's an ugly place to visit, all full with people from Saoudi Arabia.
I get through the week with 10$, not eating at home, and going out twice a week. It's expensive for people living here, with the phone bill and electricity bill etc... but not to go out at night or in the afternoons.

They say Syria is cheaper, but the dialect there really annoys me. I got a friend that's half-syrian he says there's some great places to get drunk on the beach, maybe we'll go on some road trip someday. But if all the Syrians are coming here, I'll say it means something.
