Best jazz guitarist ever?...nope!

^ He has my respect for playing this though...even cardboard adolescents outrageous musical contraption can't top that.

I reckon he'd need about 5 arms to play that thing.

Pat's awesome no doubt...original genius that has stood the test of time. I still love Watercolors... old ECM record...Check out the tune "Lakes"...

I don't think it's about best or even worse... If you like what you hear when listening to Pat Metheny, it's good enough!!

Personally i enjoy his work throughout the years, even though i wouldn't classify him to be the best guitarist.

I think he's one of the best, but I think he's the most popular which gives him an edge on people's opinion about him. He's definitely in the top 5 though.

John McLaughlin is my favorite
But it all comes down to personal opinion in the end. Metheny is great too.

My faves:
Grant Green
Wes Montgomery
Kenny Burrell

Pats got the chops, but I have a hard time of thinking of him as a "jazz" guitarist. He's too "new Age" for my tastes
