I really like some of those pics you posted. I was actually in Austin not to long ago and got to revisit the great SRV statue. Always a music magical feeling in Austin. There's no other place like it!

Been listening to a lot of hard-bop/post-bop recently... stuff like Mingus and Blakey. Looking for more... any album recommendations?

I've never been real clear on the definitions of hard bop and post-bop I have to admit. Would something like Chick Corea's Now He Sings, Now He Sobs or Freddie Hubbard's Open Sesame count? Those are both pretty good albums.

To tell you the truth, I have no clue what post-bop is. I just mentioned it because it's commonly associated with Mingus and hoped someone might recognize it and recommend something.

However, I've always associated hard-bop with the type of jazz commonly found in the mid-50s/early 60s, which usually had a more rhythmic take on what Parker and his contemporaries were doing with jazz.

Here's something to think about: What exactly is jazz anyways?

By the way, thank you for the recommendations. I'm definitely looking into those albums.

I know you've already been suggested Corea, but try Three Quarters from him as well. Great album.

I also suggest The Bill Evans Trio, Sunday At The Village Vanguard. Not really post-bop, but great beboppy jazz.
