Peter Brötzmann & Jason Adasiewicz - Going All Fancy

It's great. Duh. Pretty subdued for Brötzmann.

Mark Isham - Castalia (1988)

Pretty much a masterclass in ambient jazz. Isham on trumpet and synths, Patrick O'Hearn on bass, David Torn on guitar and Terry Bozzio on drums. It isn't atypical for the time, but it is extremely well done and atmospheric.

Path by Bill Connors, Roger Jannotta, and Tom van der Geld

A laidback late 70’s ECM release with vibes and a guitarist who worked with Return to Forever

I think both Nea and lisna would probably consider this worth a listen

Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids - Shaman! (2020)

Quote:
Influential jazz collective Idris Ackamoor and The Pyramids return with an epic new opus, ‘Shaman!’, featuring a fresh line-up including original 1970s Pyramids member Dr. Margaux Simmons on flute, Bobby Cobb on guitar, long-term associate Sandra Poindexter on violin, Ruben Ramos on bass, Gioele Pagliaccia on drums and Jack Yglesias on percussion. The band transitions from the political and social commentaries of 2018’s acclaimed ‘An Angel Fell’ into more introspective themes. “I wanted to use this album to touch on some of the issues that we all face as individuals in the inner space of our souls and our conscience,” explains Ackamoor. “The album unfolds over four Acts with personal musical statements about love and loss, mortality, the afterlife, family and salvation.”

I just gave this one a listen. It's good but It didn't grab me on the first spin like the two previous albums did. It might turn out to be the type of album that grows on me after a while. Maybe a "slow burner" for me.

Definitely has a high dose of Miles but the interludes of dissonance give it a different one two. First listen. Thanks for the rec.

Watch for a copy of "Awareness" to come thru your door. Stanley Cowell is especially great on that one!

Kenton '76 is one i've been listening to a fair amount lately, along with a lot of the Mingus Big Band's Gunslinging Birds. This is a fair amount of big band stuff.
