Dave Valentin - The Hawk (1979)

A little on the light side, but I thought OH might appreciate this.

Finding Gabriel Brad Mehldau

This post is truly a happy accident. Haven’t been into Mehldau since Places (a long damned time ago) but this is turning out to be fun.

Have you listened to his releases since then or just kind of let it slip?

I like Live in Marciac and have kept it in light rotation.

I actually wouldn’t mind a deeper dive. He’s worked with Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny since Places.

Both. Ha

Saw him live at The McCarter Theater in Princeton around the time of Places. Eclectic cat. Had a Radiohead obsession as I recall. Glad that's over.

Even though they rocked my face off live last yaer, I was a bit skeptical about this album, but it totally earns its place in the Arkestra catalogue. Spaceway melodies have a way of putting me at ease.

Trying to de-stress from world events with Wayne Shorter’s Without a Net. It’s definitely helping.

This is the first time I’ve listened to a Shorter album after the 60’s. I love Adam’s Apple and Juju and of course Speak No Evil.
