Tomasz Stanko
Leosia

Very ECM style but his style of trumpet playing makes this interesting.

Does ECM need to apologize for putting out tons of high quality records now?

I think I know what you mean that the sound can be a little safe a even generic but the consistency and quality control is fatanstic.

I'm right there with you. I will say however that some artists fall into the line of "all this sh*t sounds the same" but ECM is a great label that can produce some absolutely outstanding pieces of music from some of the greatest artists in Jazz. It's just that sometimes they don't too.

Looking at you, Bill Frisell.

Keith Jarrett, Jan Garbarek, and Gary Burton can get pretty boring too.

This is a post from a while back:

Frisell’s 2016 release When You Wish Upon a Star was so ****ing bad I didn’t want to forgive him. I don’t remember listening to his 2017 release, Small Town but Music IS is a decent recovery. It’s not free or avant garde though. In fact, it’s William Ackerman-ish. Could go in the ambient thread as a new age outlier but here it is so here it is. Recommended

Chula - I doubt you read this thread but I figure you’d like this one...
ftr WYWOAS is not on ECM

In fact if you look at his discography there’s not much ECM at all

They were a big part in his rise in the jazz world and his ECM records aren't free from his typical pitfalls either.

He ain't entirely bad when he's not in charge of the direction, see: Masada Guitars and Naked City. Idk, any I'm missing out on? I gave up exploring his discography after being burned too many times.

You didn't like Before You Were Born? That was on Elektra.

Just listened to the opener. Joe Satriani goes to art school, and I mean that in the most insulting way possible.

That’s a lot of music to consider but I like that stuff when I listen to it.
