Jazz-Funk and Jazz Fusion

I'm looking for recommendations of artists in the Jazz-Funk area (I've only listened to Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock but boy that was a great listen), and Jazz Fusion (Besides Miles Davis and John McLaughlin and Mahavishnu Orchestra, etc.) And possibly the old RnB too, somethin' similiar to Marvin Gaye (I've only listened to two of his albums).
But yeah, I did it here because the recommendation thread is dead.
Recommend albums to start with please.

You'll dig everything else. I wouldn't call In a Silent Way fusion but it's one of the best jazz records of all time so who the f*ck cares. Larry Young – Lawrence of Newark being on the list cements it that the person who wrote knows their sh*t.

Definitely. It was passed to me by someone who knows their **** too. A fellow disc golfer, who's also an accomplished jazz/fusion musician, but really humble about it. I think I'm the only one out of our little DG community who knows his dirty little secret.

I think I'll start right there at Larry Young. Thanks!
