I didn't say they don't create pollution. I was just disagreeing with your claim that no one cares about it.

I'm sorry. I watched my mom become ravaged by cancer from the inside out. It was a horrible thing to witness. I saw my father lose 85% of his respiratory capacity. No sympathy. None.

I ****ign despise smoking (though not smokers, let's make the distinction shall we?) but I still hold the cigarette for my sister four times a day because she can't do so herself, and I don't think it's fair that she should be denied one of the few luxuries or vices remaining to her just cos I don't like smoking.

That said, I do think it'll be ironic if I die from cancer due to second-hand smoke, but what can you do? However, I do hate ignorant people like those who stand behind you at a bus stop and let their smoke blow into your face. I mean, if you're going to smoke, be a little considerate about it, you ignorant piece of ****.

One more thing: our govt (like most/all govts I expect) is forever whining about how they want people to give up smoking, but think about it: the loss of jobs and industry if that happened? They clearly DON'T want it to happen: imagine if one day every single smoker in Ireland gave it up forever? The chaos! The unemployment! The loss of revenue! So they pretend that they want people to stop smoking, in order to give them an excuse to put up the price of cigarettes and make more money for them in excise duty, knowing full well smokers will pay any price. Bastards. I really feel for smokers when that happens. And it happens every single budget.

As if life revolves around them and their precious health, there is alot of things i wish wouldn't exist but they do, i hate ppl that wear stinky cologne but just because i think their cologne smells like crap i don't think they should outlaw their brand of cologne i just suck it up and deal with the weird smell.

one of my college room mates always complained about smokers walkin on campus. im like bro, just slightly change your direction and avoid the smoke if its that big of a deal. i mean its smoke goin into the air, its not like ppl are confined to a closet with someone smokin a cig. you can smell it but its by no means suffocation lol.

i only really smoke now when i go on long car drives or when i drink every other wknd

if you are gonna raise a moral issue about the products we consume knowing full well they are not healthy for us why just single out cigarettes? why not demonize the candy industry giving diabetes to ppl? or the fast food industry for contributing to the obesity problem?

What a bunch of bull. I'm sorry, but eating candy and fast food is not 100% proven to cause diabetes or obesity. You can have it everyday for a year and as long as you exercise, there's no problem.

Smoking cigarettes is not the same thing. It IS 100% proven to cause lung cancer, lung disease, it is detrimental to your arteries, etc...

My granddad smoked everyday for two or three years when he was a teenager, then stopped when he got married. And now, 40 years later he's had to have 2 surgeries to place stents in arteries in his legs due to damage to the arteries from smoking.

Also, eating candy and fast food in the vicinity of other people does not affect other people.

Standing next to someone smoking IS detrimental to other people–a fact well supported by science for decades.

I understand that this thread is for bitching, but don't expect people to buy what you are saying.

Also also, E-cigs are pretty cool looking actually, I must admit. They do not have tar either, so you can probably add a few decades to your life by smoking them instead of normal cigs. At least, until the nicotine addiction ruins your life.
