I just got out of a 3 year relationship, she has the flat we were living in, the money, al our stuff, and I'm currently taking advantage of the good hospitality of my grandparents, I have no job and a largely accumilated debt mostly thanks to her.

That'll never change mate. Also we're not married so the logistics of custody are a little different (more in my favour) Not that she'd ever try to steal him from me as far as I'm aware. But it just insures for me that I'm still gonna be a big part of his life.
