With lager/beer you can control the effects a lot easier so it's harder to get steaming.

Beer just tastes better as well tbh.
Debatable imo. That's true for most people I've met for sure but I have a much easier time controlling myself on liquor than I do beer. Beer just weighs me down and makes me miserable whereas liquor keeps me light and mobile. To each their own though, just sayin.

**** all that ****! You're legal now, Justin. If you don't wake up in a puddle of your own vomit then don't wake up at all.

Why am I such a terrible influence lately?

It's a weak drink that you've got to drink loads of to get smashed, if you want to get steaming you've got to put some effort in whereas spirits can be dangerous and catch you off guard. If I think back to when I started getting pissed it was the vodka & rum that finished me and my mates off every time, not beer (well that and cheap shitty cider). I mean getting into really bad states btw.

Especially when you're getting smashed for the first time. Drinking spirits is just a recipe for disaster.

That feeling when you're sat down in a bar and get up and realise you're fucked, I don't get that with beer, if I feel like I'm getting steaming I can just relax for a bit. With spirits before you know it you've blacked out.

That cause when most kids start drinking they drink piss water and not quality beer. Go slam 6 of these badboys and tell me how you feel. 11% abv, and they go down like water. Delicious!

Alright, it's been forever since I was a borderline alcoholic, but I'm on beer #10 of Guinness and while I'm certainly drunk, I don't feel nearly as out of control as when I was drinking possibly even less Natty Ice a month ago. Is there something intrinsically less mind destroying about good beer vs trash beer?

Man, it's been so long since I've had to deal with that but boy, do I remember it well.

A common misassumption is that Guinness will get you drunk quickly because it's dark, Irish, and not so cheap but..
Guinness = 4% alcohol
Natural Ice = 5.9% alcohol
It's math

I'm drinking:

40% yummy

Terrible. Truly. It's like alcohol for people who just started drinking. That said they go down easy, keep you energized with the absurd amount of caffeine(?) and sugar, are cheap/easy to conceal, and it doesn't take too many to get goin. I'd decry them for false advertisement but they are kinda tiny and only 20% so it's no wonder it takes 4 to get started.
