Default Worst book you've ever read

I hated that the Catcher in the Rye had basically no point other then Hey, I'm Holden Caulfield, relate to me. But it was really well-written and I didn't get exhasperated halfway through like I do with most "classic" novels.
For my birthday last year, my mom bought me the Twilight series. I read half of the first one and it was awful. Bella is seriously the blandest character in modern literature, you could not make a more blatant Mary Sue if you tried.

I love The Catcher In The Rye, it's one of my favorites of all time but I most definitely agree with you about Twilight. Maybe it's because I'm a teenage girl but most people expect me to love that series. Some girls called me heartless because I said it was cliché and terrible.

If you treat it as a fictional book, the Bible is actually pretty entertaining.

Oh and to answer the question: Twilight.

Anything by Steinbeck, especially The Red Pony, has to be the worst novel I ever read.

I'm having to read Cannery Row for my English class. I do not care for anything I have read by Steinbeck.

I thought The Pearl was decent.

The Pearl wasn't so bad, but I just don't like anything Steinbeck has written.

Also I agree with JH about the Bible,,,a work of fiction.

"The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck. I have given it a few tries but I could never really get past that first sentence

Actually I've only ever gotten about a quarter of the way through before having to put it down. I found it really, really dry.
