Absolute silence is the most peaceful thing in the world, I have only really experienced it once in my life tho inside an empty church it was really quite remarkable

I appreciate silence, but not so much as an absence of sound, it just has to be sounds I don't have to engage with, music can really affect my mood and thinking and when it's on I find it hard to ignore, it's always in the background sinking into my mind. Which I love, but after a while can make the mind feel a bit cluttered (especially headphones), so I'll go outside and just lie on my couch in the sun.

I can't remember the last time I was in a truly silent place, I live in the country so there are always birds and rustling trees, I imagine it is even worse in the city. And when the ambient noise is very low I become intensely aware of my own heartbeat and at least imagine that I can hear it.

Silence is beautiful when its welcomed... uncomfortable when not.

I like silence when I'm sharing it with someone.

Complete silence is boring and can sometimes be eerie, but I definitely don't mind having some quiet time after being bothered by loud noises...

I don't do silence. Some of the posts in this thread have made it out that silence is needed in order to stop music every once in a while.

Wierdly enough though, I actually find silence to be infinitely horrible. The most peaceful thing on earth to me isn't silence of any kind, it is just ambient music. Something like Cyantium flower by Elve.

silence can make me think and self-reflect, and it can make me paranoid and very lonesome.
