Default 50 miles in two days...I'm proud of myself!

I've cycled 50 miles in the past 2 days. My area is pretty hill strewn too and a lot of it was cross country.
I'm proud because up to now my longest ride was 30 miles in a single ride with plenty of rest beforehand, and this time I did an extra 20 the day before and still powered through 30 the day after

Anyone else enjoy the odd bike ride?

I do enjoy bike riding. Right now I only have a mountain bike so it can be a bit of a drag, especially since it's very hilly around here. There's a nice trail I like to take on which I can do about 15 miles each way, haven't done it since last summer. I really want to get a road bike, so that I'll be motivated to do it more often, and so that it's not such a bitch climbing the hills. Some are really steep around here...but the trail I mentioned is pretty flat. Coming back home is another story though.

I've got a Marin Wildcat hard tail and ride the canals and trails around east Manchester and Stockport.
When I'm not doing that, myself and a couple of mates occasionally ride the trails around Derbyshire.

I do the great north bike ride every year, Event and that's around 55 miles and it's done in a morning. Usually to train for it I do a 49.7 Mile route into the moors which is pretty much just steady climbing on about 70% dirt track with the rest being paved. On flat I can get around 80 miles before I get massively bored. Hills just make cycling a lot more interesting. Really do need to get back in shape for the GNBR though.

I'm from stockport man, I wonder if we've spotted each other around without realising it. Which trails do you ride?

I love bike riding. It drives me crazy though, because I have a bruised tailbone and I'm not in shape enough to rest on my legs. I'll get there, though. [=

Good job with the 50 miles, dude, quite the feat.

Locally, Reddish Vale through the underpass, onto Offerton, come out at Romiley and head for Chadkirk. Get on the canal for Marple Bridge and onto Roman Lakes...sometimes Strines, then head back along the canal towards Hyde, then home.
^ That's just one. Going the other way through Longdendale via Werneth Low is another. Linking the two is another.

For better trails me and a couple of mates jump in a car for the Peak District...Mam Tor etc.

Mam Tor ^ (beautiful)

Heh, some friends and me enjoy going from stockport center to the canal via romiley, up the canal to marple, out of marple then all the way down middlewood way, come out in middle of nowhere and then down the road a bit you end up in poynton.

Though admittedly, most of our ride navigation consists of 'Whats over there? DUNNO, LETS GO!"

I used to go biking in the nature reserve next to my house almost every weekend...I loved it. Nothing works up a sweat like tropical humidity. I felt like I lost half a person in weight every time I went out there.

Oh man...that picture is gorgeous! I'd really love to go into the mountains and do some riding. But I don't have a car to get there and don't know enough people in town to go with. Most people I know have road bikes. I need to do something about this this year.
