Things you don't understand spending a lot of money on?

The point being...my wife thinks I'm crazy to spend so much money on a rock.
However, at the risk of boring her to death...I explained. And when I'd finished explaining how this stone will save me hundreds in the long term and how it will never reduce in value (and after her eyes had glazed over) she reluctantly accepted that it was money well spent.

So I guess anyone who spends a ridiculous amount of money on anything, has to ask themselves, what it is they want from the item they have just laid a lot of money out for?
The only way to justify spending a lot of money (in my mind) is if it can eventually pay for itself in the long term.

I don't know much about suits, actually, but surely there are differences between meh-expensive suits and expensive-expensive suits.

I'm mostly just concerned with the fit. I hate parachute pants (baggy pants), so I want my first pair of suit pants to be rather slim. That involves tailoring, which I'm sure = $$$

It's hard to say really. I spend a fair amount of money on fragrances, which makes not a lick of sense to most people, but for me it's like brain porn. I'd be willing to spend a fair amount of money on clothes, but that goes both ways. I'd buy anything that looks good. Whether it be from a cheap store or an expensive one. I bought dress pants for 10 bucks at some place called "The Attic". I was excited.

I have a couple ideas, like maybe video games, but I don't like judging. I know my friend's girlfriend was talking about how he shouldn't spend money on Terre d'Hermes, a fragrance he ended up liking a lot. That night she spent the SAME amount of money on weed. Considering that bottle will last at least a year and a half to 2 years, I think his was FAR better spent. Then again, I think any money is better spent on most anything than when its spent on drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes.
