Default Old wive's tales

I always thought all those little tricks and stuff were a load of bull****, just a load of horny milfs competiting at being the best housewive

But today I was cleaning my room and there's all ink stains on the carpet from my work. I've been covering them with boxes/bits of paper cos if my parents see them it'll just aggravate the whole "stop being a crazy **** and go get a job" thing. So I remembered somewhere that soda gets out stains. I poured a load of soda on the carpet and mopped it up, worked pretty damn well.

What are some other tricks and things that sound like bull**** but actually work?

Like putting potatoes in the bread bin to keep the bread fresh wtf why potatoes I dont even

well this doesn't sound like bull**** because I know it actually works but for a sore throat.

Salt and Vinegar mixture is great for that and works wonders.

I guess this thread should be re-named home remedies.

oh another "trick" that works is cutting a potato in half and using it to take out a broken lightbulb. I have done that before. Works like a charm

"Grandma knows better" .

Best for a sore throat is sucking on stuff. Not kidding.
That's why all those sore throat sweets are so goddamn hard .

Grape juice and honey for a cough when you're hacking up mucus works really well. My grandma told me that.

Also, when you have the hiccups, if you drink a glass of water through a straw while holding your nose, plugging your ears, holding your breath, and counting to 10, the hiccups will go away - worked for me everytime, and it's the only thing that works for me.

It also works when you just hold your breath for half a minute

I've tried that! But for whatever reason, I can't continue holding my breath and keep hiccupping the whole time.

Ah, I don't hiccup when I hold my breath. Works fine for me .
Only I usually have the hiccups when I am with someone... They can't resist asking me questions while I hold my breath.

Whenever I get the hiccups I bend over and drink water from the other side of the glass. Works every time.

I just swallow air for hiccups, goes away right away.
