I should go re read some from my stash.

Why this? Why Larry Flint over Hugh.
larry was to me was more of a first amendment person, he also had no hang ups about what he did, while I feel that there was more about Hugh that he tried to hide, Larry was always pretty upright. I think ht challenged the norms in a way that Hugh never did.

He pushed things to an extreme, and was more willing to tackle issues that were more taboo and out there, i liked that about him.

I give Hugh the credit for starting something, but maybe it is the part of me that grew up punk and liking people who took on people powerful in creative ways.

Larry to me was pornography through and through, he made no claims to be anything but, I felt his brash honesty was cooler.

Out of the big 3 in the world of pornography (Hefner, Guccione and Flynt) he always fascinated me more.

That makes sense, Hefner was more on the forefront of social issues. Being a strong civil rights supporter and gay rights/marriage equality supporter.

Yes, Hefner was very much a part of that world, and watching the wake of his death and seeing people who just write him off as some sort of sleazy porno guy is pretty sad, that that is what his life has been reduced to when it comes to people saying good riddance (just wait until Flynt is gone, this will be intensified as the people who hated him for attacking the women's movements will laugh in a way that Hugh wont get).

Hugh was very in touch with that part, his involvement and respect for gays and blacks in that time should be taken into consideration too.

I like Hugh, but as I say I just find Larry to be a more colorful and no holds barred type of person, his victory over Falwell is one thing I love. He helped free speech move forward and I liked that about him.

There is a part of me that thinks Larry is the guy who is open and honest, while there were parts of Hugh that were hidden, Hugh is like the creepy uncle who you dont really know, cause he tries to hide that part, Larry is the one who flaunts it and makes no claim to be anything but.
