Whenever the album finished, I would shrug and think, "yeah, that was pretty good, I guess" but after a while, as her albums continued to fall flat for me, I removed those three albums from rotation.
Same here. I used to have 2 or 3 of her albums on my hard drive, listened to them a few times, except for maybe 3 or 4 songs, nothing else on those albums really did much for me.

I've been impressed by the extent and emotion of the obits turning up in the US and even UK media: it sounds like a huge number of people have been moved by Aretha's music. Personally, I'm with Psy-Fi and Zhanty* in being disappointed by her actual material, but then Soul is one of my least fave genres.

* If anyone has a better short form of Zhanteimi, now would be a good moment to suggest it !

I'm tempted to, but it's rather rude to deny him his name change. After all, would you have called Mohamed Ali "Cassius Clay" to his face?

A bit of a false equivalency I think.

Yeah, that analogy is quite flawed.

I'm not calling Batlord whatever he's called now either.
And while I'm on it: **** Fluff.

I can’t get over how awful the new username is.

Also RIP Aretha.
