Sociologist Guy Rocher, one of the key figures behind Quebec's modernization in the 1960s, dies aged 101

A great man who revolutionized the education system in the province, taking it out of the hands of the clerics and enormously increasing access to higher education.

Bruce Lose

Bruce was one of the Original vocalist for Flipper.

Flipper changed music.

Generic is in my opinion a perfect album.

This fucking sucks.

I'm so happy I got to see Flipper with Bruce.

man the last two weeks have been really hard.

Michael Herrell died. Mike was one of three founding members of the amazing metal/noise rock band Today is the Day. He played bass on their first two albums Supernova and Willpower.

Huge loss.

Bummer. The Turtles are one of my all-time favorites of the pop/rock genre. Right up there with the likes of the Beach Boys and the Beatles.

And him and Howard Kaylan were a fun addition to the Mothers in the early 70's.

I remember an episode of The Midnight Special from back in the day. Martin Mull and Flo and Edddie did a hilarious parody of Peter, Paul and Mary. Markm, of course, played Mary. It might be on Youtube.

Rick Davies, Supertramp Founder and Singer, Dies at 81
Quote:
Rick Davies, the founder, lead singer, and primary songwriter of Supertramp, died on Saturday, September 6, according to a post on the British rock band’s website. Davies had been living with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, for more than 10 years, the group said. He was 81 years old.

Richard Davies was born in Swindon, England, in 1944, and he began playing music at a young age. After cycling through a handful of acts, Davies formed the band that would become Supertramp in 1969. The group—featuring co-vocalist Roger Hodgson, guitarist Richard Palmer, and drummer Robert Millar—released its debut album, Supertramp, the following year.

Robert Redford, magnetic Hollywood icon and Sundance founder, dies at 89

Can't say I was a big fan of his but “The Candidate" is my all-time favorite film about American politics.
