I liked Enterprise. It took some time to get going, but I think it made its mark on the franchise.

I haven't seen Discovery, or the new series based on Pike. Are those worth watching?

Discovery I thoroughly enjoyed, up to the point I last watched, which was I think the end of season two? Pike I don't know: are you talking about Star Trek: Picard? Ain't seen that. Or the newest one, Strange New Worlds? Ditto, though I hear good things.

Yeah me too. Along with Lower Decks, Picard and even Prodigy.

It goes to show how little tv I've been allowed to watch. The kids commandeer it when they're home. My wife gets it the rest of the time. I haven't seen the Picard spin off. I didn't even know about Prodigy.

Prodigy is basically I think for kids. It's animated and has the voice of Captain Janeway. I have no idea if it's any good but I'll basically watch any Trek.

Ok, good to know, thanks.

I'm behind on the reboot movies too. I have yet to see the one where the crew crash on some planet and they're split up into pairs.

I don't think a lot of the new movies. The first one was ok, the second was just The Wrath of Khan rewritten, literally, and the third I remember falling asleep while watching it it was so boring.

Ok, I'm not the only one who thinks that way. They were entertaining, I'll give them that.

No, it's not an opinion. It literally was.

Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan director Nicholas Meyer (from which the film borrows and remakes some scenes), revealed in 2018 that he had been disappointed with the film. He was quoted as saying: "In my sort of artistic worldview, if you're going to do an homage, you have to add something. You have to put another layer on it, and they didn't. Just by putting the same words in different characters' mouths didn't add up to anything, and if you have someone dying in one scene and sort of being resurrected immediately after, there's no real drama going on. It just becomes a gimmick or gimmicky, and that's what I found it to be, ultimately."
