The holiday on the Monday was a seperate holiday. Saturday was Boxing Day, Monday was just a bank holiday.

For us Monday was 'Boxing Day Holiday.' It even said that on the calendar! What's a bank holiday?

Just a few days a year that the banks are closed. It used to mean that everything was shut down on these days and so was kind of a national holiday/day off. Not so much now. Pubs are open, shops are open etc so not all of us are off on a bank holiday now. I worked Mondays but at least i got paid at triple time for it!

Ah yep gotcha. Yeah, public holidays are becoming pretty redundant these days seeing as many places are staying open and more workplaces and businesses are working around the clock and the typical 9-5 Mon-Fri schedule is dissolving. Alas.

Considering I get one day off a week and my working hours usually add up to 70 per week, I am all for the reintroduction of the forty hour Monday to Friday 9 to 5 public holicdays off kinda schedule..... Damn post modern information technology based society and its pitfalls...
