Today is going to suck so much ass. I am out in the boondocks where horror movies take place and kids get killed in cabins for a leaders retreat. So many workshops today. I am facilitating one of the workshops also. I just want to close my eyes and have it be Sunday afternoon when this is all over. At night I am stuck in a cabin with 8 other guys and they all snore but at different rhythms.

Was supposed to be at work pretty much right now but I guess the sinks are ****ed up so my boss gave me the day off. No idea what to do with myself. It's like 65 out, might hit the beach.

You don't need to know how to build queries in SQL in order to know how to manage SQL. Leave the stored procedures and various queries to the software developers. They're the ones that build that kind of thing. But do know how it all works in general. It's easy enough to learn in a few months just by playing around.

What aggravates me is these people I work with who I guess specialized so hard that the most obvious sh*t just escapes them. Like, I routinely have to show most of these "software developers" how to see what their IP address is. One guy, heh, don't even get me started, he's so f*cking lost that my best solution was for him to restart his computer, and he thought I was a genius. I also have to routinely reset his passwords for everything, because apparently he just chooses random characters and doesn't try to remember them at all.

How do people get masters degrees in a field of programming without knowing how the f*ck the sh*t works on the computer?
How do they excel at something without having any knowledge of the platform upon which they're developing? I swear, most of my developers pretty much view computers as some weird machine that they don't know about. But they can code. It's so f*cking weird.

Unbelievable. I think people memorise information for exams but don't actually know how to work their way around the computer. It's better to practice to get an understanding of programs, not just glaze through it.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely spend some time playing around with it.

I love your IT stories.

Unexpectedly had today off. So... naturally I started it with breakfast tacos and a mimosas. Walked the dog at the beach until the fog and wind started to come in pretty heavily- bummer. Came home. Hung out in plug for a bit but everyone was AFK. Drunk-skated the mission and the haight and picked up some comics from the library and then I got two Fugazi records, a Kill Sadie record, and a Radon record from the bargain bin at Amoeba records all for under 20$- a ****in steal.

Day 3 of the flu.

People should really stay the **** away from me, but nooooooo... I get to work (when I actually shouldn't even be here) and I'm slammed by everyone and their ****ing brother that 'need' something from me. The ONLY reason I'm here is because I have a deadline today, and even my boss has been blowing my phone up since midnight on Saturday.
  • Changes for a huge project (deadline today)
  • Redirect an old employees email
  • Show someone how to install AutoDesk TrueView
  • Update the website
  • 2 other projects that 'need' to get done today courtesy of our other salesmen

**** me running... I just wanna go back to bed. I only just broke fever yesterday (was 103F). If people don't hear from me in the near future, it's because I finally snapped. I can blame it on all this cold/flu medication.
