I miss my friend.
Just last night I watched a finale of a tv series I loved and my first thought was to message her and ask if she had seen it. Those reflexes never completely go away do they?

I started getting into Nina Hagen a few years ago and I regret that I never got to tell Sansa how much they resembled her, though I'm sure they already heard it several times. But seriously I'm not crazy right?

I'm using they/them pronouns btw since I remember someone saying they were nonbinary and I'm not sure what they prefered.

How many properties you own? If you're a one-per-center I lost all respect for you.

That's not true: I never had respect for you.

It’s still almost daily that I’ll absentmindedly go to send her a stupid meme or Oasis lyrics… I still can’t listen to Blur tbh.

Good to see YOU though!! How’ve you been?

No but knowing she's really into Jesus nowadays I was afraid you'd ask that question.

A little update on my efforts:

My job search hit a dead end when every remote position I applied to had hundreds of national applicants. I can't compete with that.

So I challenged my social anxiety and started looking at local businesses where I might thrive.

I delivered a cover letter and resume to the founder of the region's largest antiquarian bookstore. He had hosted my first music lecture back in 2013 and he remembered me. He doesn't need anyone right now but I'll keep trying.

Tonight I reached out to the owner of 4 local record stores asking if he needs any help.

Even if these don't yield a direct job result, they are important efforts I'm making to overcome my social anxiety. So just sending out the message is a win. Who knows, maybe he'll need me in the weeks ahead. (Could you imagine ISB working in an indie record shop?)

I'll keep trying, but I'm running out of steam. This is really challenging.

Sorry to hear about your job troubles, Innerspaceboy. Working at a record store seems like a perfect fit for you, I hope things turn around very soon.

Today I finalized an agreement to sublet my apartment so I can move in with my partner. I start a new job on Monday, and it feels like this month has been a whirlwind of positive changes in my life all happening at once.

So far it feels like my 30s have been the light at the end of the tunnel that was my 20s.
