I'd just like to give a shout out to the guy who just sped past me on my porch walking his dog while riding a skateboard. Your dog looked happy as **** running all out and I'll bet you were having mad fun too. I hope you see this.

My best friends girlfriend committed suicide last night.

I've known her five years. I lived with them in California in 2017. I'm in Maine right now, where they had just moved and bought a farm, trying desperately to console him. It's impossible. He finally fell asleep and I'm in a hotel room finally able to collect my thoughts enough and just realized that my friend is dead. I had been thinking of him the whole day, worried about him. I forgot about her. I didn't want to think about it because I needed to be here for him.

This is awful.

If you notice something is wrong with your friend. Talk to them. I saw the signs and didn't act quickly enough. We all knew something was up. It's too late.

This didn't need to happen. I still can't believe she's gone.

I'm sorry.

Take care of yourself, Joe. Take time off work if you can. Allow yourself to feel the feelings - don’t try to avoid them, they always catch up with you, and lean on Dana for support. Let her take care of you. It’s ok to not know what to do. I’m so, so sorry, for your pain, and Evan’s, and Jenny’s. This is heartbreaking.

Always always always here for you if you need a distraction or a witness in cursing god’s name.

I also think it’s important to keep in mind that as you get closer to popping the question it’ll likely feel weird to be happy and celebratory around Evan, but don’t feel like you need to protect him from it. No matter how much he is hurting he will still be happy for you and want to share in your joy - let him! It‘ll be healing for you both.
