My younger niece is shy and just sits there withdrawing into herself. She’s a lot like my brother-in-law who was a humble person and the peacemaker and glue that held his family together.

I just want to thank you so much, Marie, adidasss, Guybrush, Plank, Lisna, TH, for your really thoughtful posts and great advice, and even for making me laugh here and there (not an easy thing for me to do) about my public speaking dilemma. The subject of my speaking at the wedding reception did not come up at all today; but I know that my niece, her fiancé and I will need to discuss it again soon. Thank you all again for even caring to write – which means an awful lot to me right now.
Thinking of your family ribbons. I can't even imagine the hurt. Hope for healing and learning to move forward to you and everyone.

..and thank you.

Sorry to hear about your problems, Ribbons. Things have been really pretty bad here too, but I guess nothing like your situation. As for your speech, I still think my light-bulb moment is the answer: just imagine how easy it will be to escape when you release these guys into the audience!

Thank you very much for your kindness, as always, my friend. Appreciated more than you could know.

Oh no - not that murder of crows again, lol! Yes, that may just be the perfect solution - if i weren't also afraid of crows.

I am concerned to hear that things have been pretty bad lately - has Karen's condition deteriorated further? I really hope not. Please feel free to reach out by PM to me at any time if you want to talk; and please, my anxiety about public speaking is nothing in the greater scheme of things and incomparable to the situation you face every day.

Thanks, you're very kind.

I had a good Father's day. My wife cooked steaks for her father and I. The kids were well behaved, albeit sick. They gave me a Paw Patrol card, with a "top dog" sticker.

I know it's the speaking part you're afraid of, but if you need help writing your speech I'd be more than happy to lend a hand. Just let me know.

It's 5:30am and I'm moving about, so it's not off to the best start ever

Got to mix about 100 minutes' worth of audio later today, which is actually super fun, even if it is mentally exhausting.

^ Welcome back, Bulldog! I recognise your avatar, but I don't think you or I overlapped much in the old days. I was a newbie when you were losing interest in MB I think.

Thanks, ribbons! You discovered that music_collector is a dad - that's clever of you.

Nice detail! And happy dad's day, m_c.

As for my day, it's early morning - so breakfast with coffee, some MB and the news progs. The day ahead will be much as usual I expect, which is fine by me. I had enough of angst and anxiety when I was younger, and now find myself ticking over quite ok, with few dramas to report - which is why I'm not often posting in what must be MB's most popular thread ever: Your Day.

Yeah, I remember seeing you around way back. Good to see you're still around here, it's nice seeing a few familiar names still posting!

I’d planned to start pruning my apple trees but it’s so cold outside I’m staying in and making new curtains for the front room, a job I’ve been putting off for years.
