Hard code. It means that they are embedded on the screen. You can't turn them on/off at will. They're always there.

So you mean you can't get dual audio and subtitles with MKV. Which I suppose doesn't matter in general, but if you're doing anime then it's not ideal?

MKV is just a codec. We're talking about the software that burns movies [possibly encoded in that format] to a DVD. Freemake Video Converter gives you the option to add an audio track, but I'm not sure if it will override the original or give you access to both. I've never tried it. You can add subtitles, but if you want to be able to turn them on/off at will, you need to buy an upgrade pack.

I'm not trying to do any of that, but it's still nice to know in case I ever want to burn something for a friend.

With Freemake, don't try to exceed your disc's data capacity. A DVD+/-R/W will hold 4.7 GB of data. The software will let you put more than 4.7 GB worth of movies on it, but if you do so, it will fuck your movies up during the burning process. It might give you just the audio and no video, or it might cut the video in half to make it fit on the disc. JUST, DON'T DO IT. You will waste a disc.

What do you have to do, just drag the video file onto the program and burn as you would with music?

Is there anything else needed to ensure the disc reads and plays, like other things burned onto the disc or whatever. I ****ed it up before and don't have lots of discs left.
