I was not aware using a contraction appropriately is lazy. I guess we should all stop using them if we do not want Frownland to think we are lazy speakers.

In order for your argument to be valid you would have to show how that kind of speech is lazy. So far you are failing miserably.

It's baffling to me that this applies to more than just a handful of soon-to-be retirees.

it's awful. to make matters worse the company i work for regularly sends out emails welcoming the newest employees, so at least two or three times a month i get flooded with "welcome aboard!" emails or my personal favourite, memes like the following:
