I certainly wouldn't recommend pics of family members or threads dedicated to same.

^ That's a nice metaphor, Chula! I consider MB a friendly place, but in terms of personal info, I treat it like a biker bar in Tijuana: once out of my wallet that family photo can be passed around, out of my control, so I wouldn't put myself in that position of vulnerability.

Anyway, I hope you pick up on some of the well-intentioned advice in this thread, Chula, and if you have any doubts when posting something, you might like to consider this:-

Think of the scariest, weirdest member of MB who has ever been banned: that person, and a million like them could be just one click away from lurking over your next post, so think before you Submit Reply.

Thanks, Lins.

Fill us in but the pictures man, the pictures is just asking for it time and time again. The pictures don't need to exist. You can just fill us in. Pictures just seam like an attention grab which is why a lot of people go after you for it. This isn't facebook.

That's mostly in regards t your family. You can posts pictures of yourself so we can make fun of your shoes and move on. The sharks will go after your family though. It will never end.
This is why I waited for a long, long time before posting a pic of Karen, and only after I had received a lot of sympathetic well-wishes for her, AND only because she said it was all right. As a result, there were a few (almost I think 100%) nice comments, and the pic was forgotten about (till BatHeart '18 of course). Now, had I been constantly posting pics of Karen in her youth, with her boyfriends, in a bikini (NO don't ask!) and then in bed as she is now, I'm sure someone would have made a hurtful remark. You obviously have to be really careful, esp when you're posting pictures of other people, esp esp your family. Seems just to make sense.

Not only that, but to use Chula's analogy: do you walk into a bar and ask the barman to pin up your photos behind the bar so anyone can see them? The equivalent of just showing them to some mates would surely be by PM?

Hey! I resemble that remark!

I do have to agree though: this thread shouldn't exist. If you don't know what's all right to post in public (and remember, ANYONE who joins can see those posts; it's not like this is a private forum. Once you join, you're in and there are, let's be fair, no criteria for joining and no background checks - thank god!) at our age Chula, it's kind of on you.

Hopefully, as Lisna and Exo and others have said here, you'll take the lessons on board and adjust whatever you feel needs to be adjusted in terms of any personal stuff you post. Grandad-to-be.
