And I hate to break it to you but being in a nu metal post-grunge whatever band is already giving a bad impression.

You'll earn money and maybe build on some contacts. That's good, even if it's not immediately going to help raising the profile of your actual band. I don't see the harm. Just don't mention your band name while doing the gig, since this is not going to be your brand of music.

It's all about experiences. Your preconceived notion of being a 'sell-out' is something that you've made up in your own mind. Playing outside of your comfort zone and doing it well is a challenge and pinning that label on it is just a mind **** way of trying to get out of it. You already know what you need to do, so do it.

If you're playing with the intent to make money then you've already sold out. Surely you guys have at least a couple of slow acoustic songs that you use to take a minute and get serious on your albums, right? Shouldn't be too hard to bridge the gap from that acoustic pop to other acoustic pop.
