I didn't get a change in pay. For my job, it was business as usual. I didn't have to drive into the office a ton. It was usually for operational emergencies (i.e. a network goes down).

In my neck of the woods, TONS of checks were sent out. People were being paid, on average, more than what they made if they were working. Grocery store workers and a few other types of workers (fast food I think) got a buck or two more per hour for a while.

Since the author also apparently wrote a book about how global warming isn't real I'm just going to give his name to the FBI and move on.

I'm not "reading [anything] into them." I'm just reading them as they're presented.
If, for instance, someone uses the word "parsec" as meaning a unit of time
