Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town - Lyrics Meaning

The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy was released in 1995.

The lyrics for this song were inspired by the activities of the Quality Street gang, who were major players in the Manchester (England) underworld in the sixties.

The song is about this gang and how they conducted themselves, mainly while they were relaxing over a few drinks.

They have been away for some time, (perhaps in prison?) and they are enquiring where everyone is and organising a big get together.

The mother of the lead singer of Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott, ran an illegal drinking den which the gang used to use so Phil had firsthand experience of their activities during his childhood years.

There is a line in the song mentioning Dino's bar and grill which was also on the same street.

The lyrics describe the gang meeting at this bar and having a few drinks before they go out for a big fight where blood will most likely be spilled.
