What's The Latest Film You Have Seen?

^I'm glad someone else appreciated this movie. So far all the reviews I've seen have been absolutely horrible. I think it has a 49 on metacritic. It's not revolutionary or anything, but it definitely deserves to be in the 80's IMO.

I was definitely not expecting it to be so bleak, but damn I loved it. Daniel Day Lewis was fantastic. Now the only other movie I've been really wanting to see is The Inside Job.

this biopic about an autistic woman whose life goal has been the fair and humane treatment of livestock was so much more than what i bargained for.....HBO did it again....assembling an amazing cast and re-telling an amazing story of a truly remarkable human being....by the end of this film i was dehydrated

I will take your word for this and trust your judgment. The Thing has always been a massive favourite since I first watched it aged 11 (so no bandwagon jumping for me when the critics dissed it at the time) so I have a certain amount of trepidation for this film but you have convinced me. On your head be it!

funny.....as you say it's on my head and i read 'trepanation' vs trepidation

i think you'll dig it....think of the difference between Alien and Aliens

when you see it let me know your thoughts on the ending and how they connected the end of this film to the beginning of the other.....as a huge fan (like myself) i'm curious as to your thoughts

Eh it was alright. It seemed to borrow a lot from the original even with some similar scenes.

. I also found the original being much more frightening and unnerving then the prequel. The movie also didnt seem to be based around the same time the 1982 Thing took place.

It makes a decent movie though and I do kind of like how it ends where the '82 version begins. Kind of strange how they decided to make a prequel after 29 years. I would've been perfectly fine without one.

^The Thing from 1982 is not actually the original. It too is a remake of a movie from 1951 called The Thing From Another World, which itself was a remake of a book from 1938 called Who Goes There?

Brotherhood of Justice (1986)

A made-for-TV movie based on a true story of events that happened in Texas but is set in coastal California.
It features a whitewashed plot (no Nazism or cat mutilation, which really happened in the truly true story) and terrible acting by some of America's brightest stars of the 80s and beyond. Awesome.

Yeah I'm aware that there was an original in '51. Is it similar to the '83 version of the film and begin the same way?

Spoiler for Spoiler: Even going as far as to realize that any of the characters could be this alien and taking blood tests. The only difference was they never got to it . I also found the original being much more frightening and unnerving then the prequel. The movie also didnt seem to be based around the same time the 1982 Thing took place. Spoiler for Spoiler: Maybe its just that The Thing is dated, but this movie is very modern and really didn't have the same feel as opposed to the other one.
