I thought this was going to be similar to the plot of the remake, not that I liked the remake, but I was surprised by the differences in both movies. Michael Caine was brilliant as always. It was funny because I recently watch "The Trip" with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon(sp?) and they were doing impressions of Caine using the line "You were on;y supposed to blow the bloody doors off.... I wasn't surprised when I heard it considering I didn't know where the line came from. I laughed. The first hour was a bit slow but the last 30 is CLASSIC British cinema. I liked it.

7.5/10

I thought I was going to like this more. I enjoyed the scenes where he was alone but the rest of the movie dragged and bored me. I guess I just wanted more insane antics by a guy who thinks he's the last man on earth.

5/10

The story really didn't go anywhere. The plot of the movie could fit on one page but the acting was very good. I'm starting to really enjoy seeing Samantha Morton act. She just really puts everything in her performances. Robbins was also very good but I enjoy him more when he plays characters similar to War of the Worlds and Mystic River. Oh and RANDOM VAGINA.

6/10

Definitely a forgettable one from Mr. Woody. Really not much else to say about it. It was okay.

5/10

A long episode with better production. I didn't want Scully and Mulder to kiss. I'm glad they didn't.

6.5/10

i have to say in many ways i really enjoyed "A Serbian Film"

like bastard i found out about it through hype....and i've never walked away from a challenge of being disturbed

and i admit to viewing it and asking myself half way through...."why the fuck am i still watching this.....what the fuck is wrong with me"......i would never re-watch this film....ever....but i did get into a great conversation with a member here....who lives in Serbia about the obvious symbolism the director/writer used in the film to show the world Serbian mentality and society.....very interesting stuff

as for Salo.....i fall in the percentage that look at that film as absolutely amazing....and true film as art....and honestly feel it's sad that it would even be used in the same post as something like "scat porn".....seriously if you get a boner watching Salo you should consider a bullet in your head

Watched these 3 in the past couple days...

Saving Private Ryan
This was my first time watching the full thing, and it's absolutely one of the most powerful films I've ever seen. It's easy to forget just how horrible a thing war is and the true value of a single life, and Saving Private Ryan is a simply stunning and thoroughly entertaining reminder of that. It takes a lot for a film to bring tears to my eyes, but this succeeded more than once. 9/10

Psycho
Another "classic" that I had not yet seen. I love me a good thriller, but I had only previously two Hitchcock films (The 39 Steps and The Man Who Knew Too Much, and it was a long time ago) but this film has sold me on his legendary status. The cinematography is just excellent, as is the sound and music, and the twist was completely unexpected and had me guessing the whole way through. 8/10

12 Angry Men
Pretty intriguing courtroom drama, I liked how there was so much character development of twelve different characters in just over an hour and a half - and you only learn two of their names at the very end. On a more minor level, I really appreciated the use of long takes in this movie, I felt it made the movie flow nicely and assisted in building intensity. 8/10

Ooh, good call on 12 Angry Men. A really amazing film, one of my faves. It's really been too long since I've seen it.

It's funny you mention this movie. I just watched it for the second time last week and just a little while ago my wife and I were talking about how tonight's Walking Dead episode was a little bit like 12 Angry Men.

I watch too many movies.

I've been going through all time sci fi lists and seeing the ones I haven't seen. I'll have to say that this had one of the more beautiful moments. The seen at the end(ish) where Edward G. Robinson was on his death bed was wonderful enough but after learning that he died of cancer ten days later really makes the scene even more special. I mean Heston shed actual tears. He wasn't even looking at a gun. That was a bad joke.

7/10

I didn't realize until after I started this that it stars (French guy from The Artist who won best picture. I'm not going to imdb his name because I'm lazy but I know it's Jean...Jean Dija...Deija...Deja.....it's on the picture, **** I'm lazy. Just read that)...AND...(French director...Michael Hazavanziousness). It was pretty funny. I liked the style and I want to see the first one of the OSS 117 series.

7/10

I liked this movie a lot. It was a lot heavier than I thought it would be but it told a great story and the animation was great. Might end up buying this one of dvd. It was a great intoduction to a culture I don't know much about.

9/10

Great french prison film with some great acting and memorable scenes. I'll agree it was a bit too long but it seemed to bo by faster than I thought it would.

8/10

Documentary about the great William S. Burroughs. Interesting movie about an interesting man.

7/10
